Guest Reviews - Arch House Bed and Breakfast & Self Catering Apartments
Hi Chris & MaureenHarry & Beverley, Las Vegas. July 2010.Just a quick email to thank you for your hospitality. We left Dublin Airport very tired after our flight from Vegas via New York (delayed 3 hours) so by the time we arrived in Dublin we just wanted to get our hire car and get out of the city. Athlone looked much further away on the map but we were there in just over an hour on the new motorway. We found yourselves on the main street and whilst we had concerns about noise from the traffic, you kindly offered us one of the rooms at the back and we slept like babies. Our holiday got off to such a good start that we decided to stay with you again, two weeks later, before we headed back to Dublin. You guys sure cook a great Irish Breakfast and the brown soda bread was the nicest I’ve ever had. Thank you for such a great stay (twice)
John, Sylvia & Boys, Carlow. May 2010We stayed with our two children last weekend for the Community Games and I just wanted to Thank You for a lovely stay. I was immediately impressed with the modern décor of the apartments , they are bright, spacious and spotless. And we were pleasantly surprised to find that even though the Apartments are self catering you arranged Continental Breakfast for us in the Apartment and our bed linen and towels were included. We had a much less pleasant experience last year when we stayed close to the AIT where the Games were taking place. We had to bring all our bed linen and towels and the Apartments were very basis and noisey. My son who was competing barely slept. Thanks again for your hospitality. If we qualify again next we will definitely be back as will the many families we have told about you.
Thanks again, Marie & Gang, Ballina, Co Mayo. April 2010Hi again Maureen, We’re all home and getting back to normal after the weekend but I just wanted to Thank you for putting up with all 27 of us. We had a blast in Athlone. Because we were keeping to a tight budget we stayed in on the Friday night and got a delivery from Kin Khao Thai Restaurant. It was beautiful and lots of it … The wine flowed and we had a great sing-song into the early hours. Your recommendation of the ‘Hen Cruise’ was a great idea. We found it difficult to book one of the Restaurants you recommended as they all offer great value and great menus but we eventually settled on The Olive Grove and we were not disappointed. The private room overlooking the River Shannon was fantastic. The bride was extremely impressed with my organisation skills !!! That was a late one so sorry that we didn’t manage Breakfast the next day.
Claire HawkinsDear Maureen,
Only one week in advance, after spending a full day contacting every type of accommodation in Athlone in search of somewhere to stay while i was competing in the Triathlone i was desperate and at my wits end, looking up cheap 2 man tents in Aldi seemed more feasible since every place in the town was completely sold out. In a last ditch effort, I rang your good selves once again and you just had a cancellation (Phewww!) in your apartment accommodation. I’ll never forget the relief- with the organisation involved in competing in my first triathlon on its own, the thought of trekking up and down to Dublin on the day was enough to almost make me cancel it altogether.
So I would like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for everything. The apartment was excellent, beautifully clean and modern with all mod con facilities plus the most delicious brekkie in the world, no 5 star hotel could rival it!!! We were also very lucky to be sharing with 4 others who were competing so we all had great craic, cooked a meal after the race together and all!! Not only that but the night we arrived a lovely lady brought us over a tray full of breakfasts as she knew we would be up too early to make breakfast in the B&B. So that was definitely the cherry on top of the cake.
Sorry for the epic thank you email, I just can’ t express how between your friendly, helpful staff and your excellent service you made last weekend one to remember and hopefully to recreate next year!
I will definitely be passing on my recommendations.
Please pass on my thanks to all your staff.
The Ennistymon GangA group of 16 of us from Clare stayed for 2 nights in Arch House Apartments in August this year. The Apartments are in the town centre and so convenient to the shops, bars and restaurants, we walked everywhere. They’re so spacious and clean with all bed linen and towels and even Breakfast in Arch House B&B included in our price. Before we departed on the Sunday, we had a fantastic cruise on the River Shannon. For us the weekend was a school ReUnion and a very memorable one, Thanks to our Hostess Maureen and her Manager. Thanks again for your hospitality, We’ve told loads of friends and colleagues about our experience so expect an influx from Clare. See you again next year.
Tom & Maura ReganWe had a lovely quiet cosy room in your B&B, despite your town centre location. We parked our car in your car park and walked everywhere. As we’re both retired, Maureen told us she could offer us a special two night rate as a Golden Package for Seniors, we stayed the 2 nights and were sorry to leave. Hope to visit you again.
Andrew & Peter, Geneve. We arrived in Athlone from Switzerland to spend a week fishing on the River Shannon and her lakes but found it impossible to hire a boat locally. However, Maureen located a boat on Lough Inny for us and every morning she or Chris drove us the half hour to Lough Inny and picked us up every evening. We caught lots of bream, pike and trout. Now we’re back to work in Switzerland and planning next year’s trip.
George and Theresa, BostonStaying with you was everything we expected of an Irish B&B. It was like home from home, the rooms were spacious and quiet. Breakfast was lovely, we particularly loved the homemade brown scones. We loved the old world pubs in Athlone and the lovely seafood restaurant beside the Shannon.
Megan & Finola, Drogheda.A very convenient location for a night out, checked in to Arch House Apartments on the Saturday evening and after a spot of retail therapy in the new town centre we headed out on the town. Lovely bars and vast choice of all types of restaurants. Breakfast was served until 11am the next day so we had time to recover (slightly).
